Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on August 20, 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Demi’s parents are Patrick Lovato and Dianna Lovato (a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader). Demi has an older sister named Dallas and a younger half-sister named Madison.

Demi began acting on the show Barney and Friends at age 6 as the character Angela. It was at the Barney and Friends auditions that Demi first met actress and singer Selena Gomez. Demi later guest starred on the shows Prison Break and Just Jordan, but her first big break came when she was cast as Charlotte Adams in the Disney Channel show, As the Bell Rings. After being cast in As the Bell Rings, Demi was also cast in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock as Mitchie Torres. Camp Rock made Demi an instant Disney star! She was featured on the movie’s soundtrack along side the Jonas Brothers.

During the summer of 2008, Demi toured with the Jonas Brothers as their opening act. Demi worked with the Jonas Brothers to write songs for her first album, Don’t Forget. “Get Back” was the first single off the album and was released on August 12. Don’t Forget was released on September 23 of 2008 and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The second single, “La La Land”, was released in December and the third single, “Don’t Forget”, was released in March of 2009.

In February of 2009, the Disney Channel series Sonny With a Chance premiered. Demi plays the role of the main character, Sonny, who is the newest addition to the cast of a popular comedy show, So Random. On June 26 of 2009, the Disney Channel Original Movie Princess Protection Program was released. Demi starred in the movie along side best-friend and former Barney and Friends co-star, Selena Gomez. Demi played the role of a princess put into the Princess Protection Program for her safety.

On June 26, 2009, Demi released her second album, Here We Go Again. The album debuted at number 1 with over 107,000 sales in the first week! Demi worked with John Mayer, Jon McLauglin, and Nick Jonas on her album. The first single, “Here We Go Again”, was released on June 17 and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her highest charted song. Her other singles from the album were “Gift of a Friend” and “Remember December”. In 2009, Lovato took part in Disney’s Friends for Change. Demi recorded the project’s theme song “Send It On” with Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and the Jonas Brothers. Demi later recorded another Friends’s for Change song called “Make A Wave” with Joe Jonas. Demi and Joe Jonas were in a romantic relationship from the spring to early summer of 2010.

Camp Rock 2 began filming in September of 2009. Camp Rock 2 is set for release on September 3, 2010.
